Mr Peter Garrisson AM SC
Solicitor-General for the ACT
Peter Garrisson AM SC is the Solicitor-General for the Australian Capital Territory, also performing the functions of Chief Solicitor, and is thereby responsible for the management and legal practice of the ACT Government Solicitor's office. He was admitted to legal practice in 1981 in Melbourne working in private practice until 1995. He worked with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission where he was a Regional Commissioner until 1999. Peter moved to Canberra and joined the ACTGS in 1999.
He has significant experience in commercial law including contracts, intellectual property, trade practices, corporations law and insurance. He has acted for the ACT Government in a range of major commercial transactions and regularly advises on complex commercial and governmental matters.
Peter has practised widely in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, and has extensive expertise in land law and legal interpretation. He advises the government on complex constitutional and public law matters, including matters arising under the Human Rights Act 2004, and appears as counsel for the Attorney General. Peter was Chief Solicitor from 2004 until his appointment as the ACT's first Solicitor-General in August 2011 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2013.
Ms Kristin Leece
Deputy Chief Solicitor
Kristin Leece is responsible for oversight and assurance of legal services. Reporting to the Solicitor-General for the ACT, Kristin provides high level strategic legal advice and has responsibility for carriage of matters of particular sensitivity and complexity.
Kristin has extensive commercial and regulatory advising experience having provided legal services in both the private and government sectors. Her career experience includes a number of senior legal counsel roles with particular expertise in telecommunication and information technology. Kristin was admitted to practice in 1987 in Canberra and has been recognized as one of Australia’s leading regulatory lawyers. Prior to joining ACTGS in 2015 Kristin had been a partner in a leading Australian law firm.
Kristin’s focus on client service aims to ensure that the ACTGS provides professional and consistent legal services which meet the needs of the Territory.
Ms Lisa Manzoney
Executive Group Manager, Legal Practice
Lisa's role is to coordinate the delivery of legal services across the various Practice Groups which comprise the ACTGS.
Lisa has been with the ACTGS for over 20 years, having previously practised as a solicitor in the private sector and also as the Acting General Manager for the ACT Insurance Authority. She has a breadth of experience in personal injury litigation and coronial inquests as well as other areas of law.
Lisa's focus is on the efficient delivery of legal services through ensuring the effective coordination and deployment of resources and expertise to matters across the various practice groups.
Ms Lana Junakovic
General Manager/Chief Operations Officer
The General Manager as Chief Operations Officer coordinates the enabling services and ensures the delivery of the people and resources required for effective legal service delivery.
Lana has worked in a range of positions and areas in the Justice and Community Safety Directorate and possesses a vast array of corporate knowledge and know-how.
